Sometime ago I decided to write a list of 100 things that I wanted to achive in my lifetime. One of them was to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. So when I heard about a group of local professionals doing just that, I jumped at the chance to join them!
Mount Kilimanjaro is 19,430ft high, its going to take us 4.5 days to trek to the summit, with 1.5 days to make our return journey. Im pretty fit, so Im confident I can make it. My only concern is how, or if, the altitude sickness might affect me.
My team and I have started our training, whilst I run, cycle and have personal training sessions each week we are also trekking regularly to build our legs up ready for this exciting adventure! Our training includes time spent in Dartmoor, climbing Ben Nevis and also a one day trek covering 30 miles!
I'm sure that through the training and friendships that will be formed within the group, its going to be an amazing and potentially life changing experience. Its going to take courage, commitment and some sponsorship!!! Would you help me, dear friends, by helping me raise £2500 for Sparks - a childrens medical charity that help children to be born, and stay, healthy. A subject close to all our hearts, Im sure.
I will be funding the cost of the trip with corporate sponsorship and my own money - therefore I guarantee that all the money you donate will be going to the charity themselves. You can sponsor me here - www.justgiving.co.uk/sarah-knight
Would love to hear any stories from anyone thats already been up Kilimanjaro, or infact any training tips - or just words of encouragement. You can email me on sarah@sarahwestrecruit.co.uk
Thank you so much,
Sarah
